Remembrances
Remembrances: A series of lithographs and photopolymer intaglios based on images of Sharon’s late grandparents’ house and presented in the style of nineteenth century pictorialist photography. The prints have grainy quality suggesting a melancholic, reflective mood, as though capturing fading memories with an atmosphere of a bygone time. They depict private, intimate spaces with echoes of the people who lived in them. They tell a story of the absent occupants, revealing clues about their lives: their class and religion, through the objects they owned and the things they treasured. They celebrate working-class heritage and are also images of remembrance.
