A series of unique mixed media monotype prints based on my original photographs taken in the 1980s of my grandparents’ small terraced house and garden. I have experimented with enriched colours to create otherworldly versions of the originals, more vibrant, better and brighter. They are almost ‘chocolate box’ images which celebrate the mundane and ubiquitous and my working class roots. The images have a ‘retro’ feel, nostalgic and familiar to us who lived through the 1970s and 1980s. The Anderson shelter as an extra shed in the garden, a relic from World War II, is a symbol of shared histories and experience

The prints are monotypes combined with image transfer and acrylic paint printed onto a thick, heavyweight handmade paper support which gives each artwork its own physicality as an object
